My name is Nicole Terry, and I am studying English and editing at Brigham Young University. I will graduate in April 2018; upon graduating I plan to pursue a career in copyediting fiction. The editing minor has helped me develop knowledge and skills to support my natural intuition for editing, and those skills have been even further strengthened by my participation in acquisition editing for Leading Edge, BYU's science fiction and fantasy magazine. I am now the managing editor and a senior editor; I have had the wonderfully fulfilling experience of leading an editing team to make substantive and copy edits to a short story for the upcoming issue of the magazine.
In addition to working on Leading Edge, I have been a copyediting intern at Cedar Fort Publishing and Media, located in Springville, Utah, since May 2017. Though my main focus is copyediting, I have also gained experience in typesetting and proofreading. My internship has taught me a lot about the editing and design processes in a real-world setting and provided me with experiences that will benefit me for the rest of my career.
I am a copyeditor, assistant art director, copyrights team member, and writer for Mormon Insights, a website that highlights articles, talks, or videos from LDS.org and other related LDS Church sites.
I have always enjoyed reading and am particularly interested in young adult fiction. I both follow and post reviews on Goodreads for the majority of the books I read. My love for young adult fiction ignited in me a desire to write. I am currently drafting a young adult fantasy novel, as well as editing and refining two short stories.
Please feel free to read my résumé and contact me with any questions.
Get to know me: Though editing is what I am most passionate about, I love playing volleyball, reading, writing, and eating Oreos an entire pack at a time. I haven't yet found (and will likely never find) movies I love more than Beauty and the Beast and Star Wars. I have far too many favorite animals, and I hope I find a sasquatch one day.
